Today was one of those days when I was aware of something I had manifested that wasn’t exactly perfect in the way it came to me.
I have always been what my mom calls a “snoozer”. From the moment I was born, I was devoted to my sleep time. I still really appreciate a good sleep-in and I truly enjoy the thought of climbing into my bed at night. I often fall asleep thinking to myself, “I love this bed!”. During the day, I will schedule time for a nap and then look forward to it all morning. I very much appreciate sleep.
Ian has complicated this to some degree because he is an early riser and a VERY AWAKE morning person. Most mornings I am woken up by him coming into my room and quietly asking, “can I snuggle you?” With my eyes still closed I lift the covers and he climbs in and cozies up. He rarely falls back asleep so I come into my morning with the sweet little voice of my youngest telling me “I love you” and “I love snuggling you” several times before he decides that he’s ready for breakfast, which signals me that the time has come to get out of bed and begin the morning routines. It’s a pretty positive way to wake up, even if it happens earlier than I would usually prefer.
I understand that the more enlightened one is, the less sleep they need. When my awaking began this was the thing I noticed the most. I had so much more energy than I was used and I felt very “awake” (hence the name ‘awakening’). I have noticed that I require less sleep and do not feel as drowsy during my day, which is a welcomed change. I still schedule naps and look forward to climbing into my bed, but it comes from a place of enjoying the rest and the act of sleep, not due to necessity to function.
Recently I saw an Abraham Hicks quote suggesting that humans really only need four hours of sleep at a time. I consciously realized that I would like that. It would be nice to have more time each day to live life, doing things, especially having more quiet morning time while everyone else is still sleeping. Once I sent this rocket of desire, I released it to the Universe and then forgot all about it.
This morning, I woke up with energy at 3:54 AM. Realizing how early it was, I laid there trying to fall back asleep. It was 4:30 AM when I realized that I might as well just get up. It was nice to meditate without interruption (the opposite of what happened yesterday morning), spend time on a focus wheel and writing positive aspects, all with the awareness that I had an abundance of time, no rushing necessary. I spent thirty minutes on the elliptical and as I was stretching afterwards, Ian opened the door and announced that he was awake. It wasn’t even 6:00 AM yet.
Even though I do love the time I get with my baby in the mornings, it was still really nice to start today with my spiritual alignment and self-improvement. The feeling of tiredness started to creep in around 7:00 AM but it was in full remission by the time I settled in for a nap at 1:30 PM.
I wonder if this will continue to be something that evolves for me. My relationship with sleep is surely changing, but how much is unknown. Only time will tell.
