I want to reflect on this week’s episode with Erin Stabile by comparing the truth of her message to the Matrix. What does it mean to own your healing? I think it means grabbing your life by the horns and making it whatever you want to make it. This is more than just “healing”, this is accountability and responsibility. It’s killing the victim mentality and owning all of it, the good and the bad, and then changing the parts that aren’t serving you.
It can be difficult for people to let go of blame. Blame is much easier to dole out than taking responsibility for the negative junk. Not to mention, the confusion of getting on board with owning things like sickness, injuries, and overall un-wellness, whether that mean physically, mentally, or emotionally. How can this illness, pain, trauma… fill in the blank, be my fault? I would never choose to be in this experience so it’s ridiculous to think that I would cause this discomfort to myself.
It’s a tough pill to swallow, kind of like choosing the red pill that Morpheus is offering to you which will then open up the truth of the matrix. It’s a perfect analogy really. Imagine being offered a blue pill which keeps you in all of your ailments with the mentality that you may or may not discover an external aid to diminish the discomfort at some point. Or, a red pill which will allow you the knowledge of how to heal all of your ailments and embrace the possibility of living a satisfying life experience, free from the things which now plague you. It seems like a no-brainer but you know the catch… the knowledge you inherit through swallowing the “miracle cure”, which is the red pill, turns out to be a painful realization that though the possibility for a cure is there, it requires you to take responsibility for all the negativity which led to the ailments, and own your healing journey by accepting responsibility that you are the cause of it all.
Of course, the journey of owning your healing means cleaning out some painful wounds, which causes more pain in the moment. It’s not easy to say, “I don’t like this and I know that no one is to blame but myself”. Think of all the hardships that Neo experienced after swallowing the red pill. That was real difficult crap. But what ended up happening? He discovered the truth of who he really is and then stepped into his true power. At that point there was no stopping him. He took hold of his life power and exercised it in whatever way he saw fit. This is what is possible for all of us should we decide to crush the victim mentality and take ownership of our lives. Own your pain, own your healing, own your happiness.
